Gruta das Torres Visitors Centre

The Gruta das Torres is the largest lava tube known in Portugal, with 5150 meters in total length, presenting unique characteristics in the regional volcanoes and speleological panorama and of high interest and scientific, economic, educational and geotouristic use.

It corresponds to one of the natural caves where the need for protection, preservation and sharing of biological, aesthetic, scientific and cultural values is felt the most.

Thus, and taking into account its particularities and high tourist interest, the preservation and conservation of the natural heritage of this protected area are fundamental, namely through the control of accesses.

With a view to better managing the load capacity and the satisfaction of visitors, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change has an online platform available, which allows a quick and agile acquisition of tickets for the visit to Gruta das Torres.
