This trail is mostly inserted in the Planalto Central e Costa Noroeste Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species and makes an incursion into the Biscoito da Ferraria e Pico Alto Nature Reserve.

Along the trail are different environments where you will have the opportunity to contemplate the impressive landscape of the Nature Reserve from the top of Rocha do Chambre.

The trail begins and ends in a dirt path on the Malha Grande zone, at the intersection with the Regional Road 3-1, on the descent that takes you to the centre of Biscoitos parish.

It follows by a section flanked by examples of native flora, such as Juniperus brevifolia, Erica azorica and Myrsine retusa. Further on, you will find a fork road where you should follow the left. Reaching a T-junction, take a right, walking in a woodland of Cryptomeria japonica, following a torrential watercourse where some birds can appear such as the Turdus merula azorensis, the Regulus regulus inermis and the Fringilla coelebs moreletti.

Reaching a meadow area follow the trail, passing a gate that gives access to a path, which takes you to another woodland. Find a small viewpoint in the Nature Reserve, where you will have views of the Vale do Azinhal (valley). Regain strength, as it will start the most demanding part of the trail, which will lead you to the highest point of the Rocha do Chambre.

The route will start to go down and you will find the Rocha do Chambre Viewpoint. From this site, you can glimpse the Biscoito da Ferraria e Pico Alto Nature Reserve.

Then go down by farmlands and take the opportunity to observe the various volcanic formations that the landscape offers. Nearing the end of the last pasture, go on to the right by a dirt path, you will find a gate on your left where you should follow. Go straight along the path that will take you back to the beginning of the trail.
