Situated in the Serra de Santa Bárbara e Mistérios Negros Nature Reserve, from the top  of the mountains is possible to contemplate a big part of the Nature Park and the pristine natural landscape of the Azores cloud forest. This forest is one of the rarest and most valuable vegetation formations, dominated by the Azorean endemic species Juniper (Juniperus brevifolia).

This nature reserve occupies an area of about 1863 hectares of the Serra de Santa Bárbara massif and integrates the highest point of the island, situated at an altitude of 1021 metres. From this Natural Heritage, it is also possible to contemplate a big part of the island and the other islands of the Central Group.
