Vinhas dos Biscoitos

With about 165 hectares, this protected area is distinguished by the existence of landscape and cultural values with coastal ecosystems.

In this area stand out the presence of endemic species of vascular flora, such as Agrostis congestiflora subsp. oreophila, Daucus carota subsp. azoricus, Euphorbia azorica and Hedera azorica. This zone has a traditional humanized landscape of high aesthetic and productive value, with land compartmentalized by “curraletas” (small plots delimited by stoned-walls) used for the vineyards’ cultivation for the production of the fine wines of Biscoitos.
