Pico da Esperança

Pico da Esperança is the highest point of the island at about 1053 metres of altitude, and is located in the Pico da Esperança e Planalto Central Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species. 

From this viewpoint, with favourable weather conditions, you can see the alignment of volcanic cones and the four neighbouring islands: Terceira and Graciosa at north and Pico and Faial at the south. This site is a prime habitat for the observation of species of flora and fauna typical of this ecosystem.
