With 13 hectares, this protected area constitutes a coastline characterized by sea-cliffs with a maximum height of 55 metres and small inlets of rock and pebble.

It begins at the stream mouth of the Ribeira do Soldão (stream), goes up by it to the edge of the sea-cliff and continues along the edge until it reaches the Ribeira do Capo (stream), where goes down to the stream mouth. From there, follows the coastline to the point of the stream mouth of the Ribeira do Soldão.

The area is wooded with species of coastal flora and Macaronesian forest, being a particularly important habitat for the species Calonectris borealis and Puffinus lherminieri baroli.
