Situated in the Zona Central e Falésias da Costa Oeste Protected Landscape Area, the Poço do Bacalhau is a waterfall located in Ribeira das Casa (stream) that falls from approximately 90 metres height, falling in a natural pond surrounded by endemic and introduced vegetation.

The water of this waterfall is from springs located in the higher altitude zones of the island that collect the humidity of the dense clouds, which accumulate above the Laurel Forest and the extensive layer of Sphagnum sp. This species works as a regulator and distributor of the absorbed water, slowly and steadily.
