With 99 hectares, this protected area includes coastal zones that, given their geological formation and location, gather natural conditions of interest for the development of particular habitats for fauna and flora.

In this coastal area are observable some birds such as the Cory’s Shearwater (Calonectris borealis), the Common Tern (Sterna hirundo), the Azores Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus azorica) and the Barolo Shearwater (Puffinus lherminieri baroli). Regarding flora, stand out the presence of Azorean Heather (Erica azorica), Azorean Picconia (Picconia azorica), Azorean Sandspurry (Spergularia azorica) and Azorean Coastal Forget-me-not (Myosotis maritima).
