Praia (Macela)

Situated at the head of Praia Formosa Bay, the Marcela Viewpoint offers a spectacular view of a unique landscape, shaped by the sea’s intense erosive action over thousands of years.

From this vantage point, you can see Praia Formosa, considered one of the most popular bathing spots on Santa Maria, distinguished by its extensive deposits of light-coloured calcareous sand, unique in the Azores archipelago.
