São Lourenço

The São Lourenço Viewpoint offers one of the most iconic and beloved views of Santa Maria, showcasing the magnificent São Lourenço Bay, a deeply indented, semi-circular inlet.

The landscape is characterised by terraced vineyards arranged in a natural amphitheatre, the result of centuries of human adaptation to the steep hillside, which gives the site a unique identity.
From this vantage point, it is also possible to see Ilhéu do Romeiro, an important seabird nesting site that enhances the bay’s ecological value. The viewpoint also features a shaded area with tables, providing visitors with a pleasant space for rest and leisure, in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings.
