Picos

This viewpoint, situated along the regional road leading to Pico Alto, offers a sweeping and spectacular view over the parish of Vila do Porto and much of the south-western part of Santa Maria. From this vantage point, one can appreciate the layout of the island’s urban and rural landscape, framed by the surrounding terrain.
 

On days with good visibility, the view also takes in some of the island’s most iconic natural and heritage features, such as the Ilhéu da Vila Nature Reserve, the Pico do Facho, and the Pedreira do Campo Natural Monument, providing a comprehensive overview of Santa Maria’s geodiversity, landscape, and protected areas.
