Thermal waters are groundwater that emerges on the Earth's surface at a temperature higher than the average annual temperature of the place where they emerge. They are heated by geothermal processes, usually in regions with volcanic activity or in areas where the Earth's heat is closer to the surface. These waters are untreated and are often rich in minerals, such as calcium, magnesium, sulfur, and others, which may have therapeutic properties. On the other hand, their temperature may favor the proliferation of microorganisms that are harmful to health or aggravate some chronic diseases.
