Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species
This terrestrial area, with about 702 hectares, extends from the Ponta dos Rosais Natural Monument to Ribeira da Fonte, at the east of Fajã da Ponta Furada.
This site houses a great diversity of seabird species, such as Calonectris borealis and Puffinus lherminieri baroli can be seen. Here are also examples of endemic flora such as Erica azorica and Picconia azorica.
It is also classified as an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) of the BirdLife International organization.
