In this area, with 500 hectares, can be observed lava fields and natural excavations as a result of recent volcanic activity.

These contrast with the arid and black area that constitutes an essential habitat for some birds such as the Calonectris borealis, the Sterna hirundo, the Sterna dougallii and the Arenaria interpres. This is also an important place for other marine species such as the Caretta caretta and the Tursiops truncatus.
