Pyrrhula murina

Origin: São Miguel

Conservation Status: in danger, according to the assessment of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

It has lengths from 15 to 17 centimetres. Their plumage has grey shades of cream and the head, wings and tail are black. The beak is strong and black and the legs are dark pink. Its preferred habitat is the altitude forest although it can go down the paths and pastures, in the summer. Their food ranges from herbaceous seeds, berries, ferns to flower buds, among others.
