Dictyota dichotoma

Distribution: North Atlantic from Scandinavia to Mauritania, Macaronesia and Mediterranean.

Protection Status: indirectly protected under the Habitats Directive.

Brown alga with delicate fronds and a typical regular fork with rounded ends. Their colouring is brown or green, sometimes with a light blue tone. When observed closely, the frond can display across aligned points and an iridescent feature when submerged. It occurs throughout the archipelago in the intertidal zone to about 15 metres deep.
