The Hydrobates monteiroi is an endemic species of the Azores and is the smallest of the archipelago marine bird. It nests in uninhabited small islets off the Graciosa Island and has a population of around 250-300 couples. He was indicted as a new species by singing slightly different from the species H. castro.
