LIFE BEETLES | Endemic species plantations
June 21, 2021
The first plantations of endemic species were carried out in the intervention areas of the land adjacent to Lagoa do Caiado on Pico Island.
These works, under LIFE BEETLES project, are part of Action C.3 and aim to the renaturation of four parcels of a pasture grassland. In this first day, about 150 specimens of Frangula azorica were planted.
The Regional Secretariat for Environment and Climate Change intends, through this project, to plant and sow around 40 thousand plants and shrubs on the land adjacent to Lagoa do Caiado, in order to ensure, in the long term, an adequate habitat for the target species of the project.
