The Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture (PPCVIP) was classified as a Protected Landscape Area on 27 June 1996. On 2 July 2004, UNESCO approved the Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture inscription on the World Heritage List in the category of Cultural Landscape.
To mark the 20th anniversary of this event, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action invites the whole community to an event at 19h30 in the Library and Auditorium of Madalena, on the island of Pico.
The event will feature a viola da terra performance that will accompany the creation of a live painting alluding to this Protected Landscape Area, a round table entitled "20 years of PPCVIP World Heritage" moderated by Milton Dias and with speakers Leonardo Ávila Silva, producer, Manuel Tomás, first president of the PPCVIP Committee, and Maria Jesus Maciel, researcher. The Casa do Povo da Madalena Folkloric Group will close with a performance of chamarrita, followed by drinks.
