European Parks Day marked with action to remove invasive species and plant endemic species

June 25, 2024

On 24 May, the Terceira Nature Park celebrated European Parks Day by participating in an environmental volunteer action with the LIFE BEETLES project.

To this end, employees from Terceira Environment and Climate Change Service travelled to the project's intervention areas to carry out a volunteering activity, which involved two types of intervention. In one area, endemic species were planted along a hillside, while in the other area, seedlings of an invasive species, the Kahili Ginger (Hedychium gardnerianum), were removed by hand.

This action helped to raise awareness among employees of the project's objectives, creating bonds of cooperation and strengthening teamwork within the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action.
