World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

On World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action calls for reflection on the importance of caring of our lands to guarantee a sustainable future for everyone. This year's theme, "United for Land: Our Legacy. Our Future.", reminds us that the land’s health is fundamental to our survival and well-being.

In the Azores, sustainable soil management practices are essential to preserve our unique ecosystems and combat land degradation. The synergy between Government and Community in protecting and restoring our lands guarantees a positive legacy for future generations.

What can we do?

- Adopt good practices for the efficient use of water resources and reducing water waste.

- Participate in actions of reforestation and restoration of natural habitats.
