Invasive plant removal activity on São Jorge
May 31, 2024
Last March, an invasive species removal activity was organised in Ponta dos Rosais, on the island of São Jorge, in collaboration with the Escola Secundária das Velas and the São Jorge Environment and Climate Change Service. During the activity, around 40 kg of invasive species, namely New Zealand Spinach (Tetragonia tetragonoides) and Japanese Holly Fern (Cyrtomium falcatum), were collected.
This activity was organised with the school's students and their parents and guardians to raise awareness and educate not only children but also adults about nature conservation, promoting a culture of sustainability.
