15th Anniversary of the Flores Island Biosphere Reserve
May 29, 2024
On 27 May, the Flores Island Biosphere Reserve celebrated its 15th anniversary.
The date was marked in the auditorium of the Lajes das Flores Museum with a series of interviews with eleven locals, as many parishes are on the island, each representing their parish of origin. Over the course of an evening of conversation – interrupted by a snack made up entirely of local products, cheese and butter from Fajãzinha and Val da Fazenda, biscuits from Cedros, cornbread and massa sovada, honey from Castromel – topics related to the experience of these locals in the Reserve were discussed.
The heterogeneity of the group of interviewees in terms of age, occupation, perspectives and experiences helped to create a very colourful picture of the biosphere reserve.
The dynamic was very well received, and some of those present even suggested other actions in this format with different themes and interlocutors.
