15th Anniversary of the Flores Island Biosphere Reserve
May 24, 2024
The Flores Island Biosphere Reserve celebrates its 15th anniversary on the 27 May!
The island of Flores has held this classification since 2009, the result of a decision by the International Coordinating Council. This international recognition covers the entire island and its surrounding marine area. This treasure in the Atlantic contains unique landscape, geological, environmental, and cultural values at regional, national, and international levels.
Biosphere Reserves are tools for sustainable development based on the harmonious relationship between man and nature, a relationship that is evident in the landscapes of the island of Flores.
To celebrate this event, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action invites the general community to attend a short interview session with local testimonies.
Come along to the auditorium of the Municipal Museum of Lajes das Flores. We're counting with you!
