LIFE BEETLES | Intervention Areas

LIFE BEETLES | Intervention Areas

April 27, 2021

Both intervention areas here represented, TER3 and TER4, respectively, are both Eucalyptus forests. Both are considered areas of potential distribution for the endemic beetle of Terceira Island, Trechus terrabravensis. TER3 area presents high levels of degradation while TER4 area is already showing an underwood full of native plants and a great diversity of mosses and lichens native to the Azores. In the context of the project, conservation fieldworks will involve the conversion of both Eucalyptus forests into native forest, helping to increase the availability and quality of natural habitat for the endemic beetle.
