LIFE SNAILS at Ciência Viva no Verão
Aug. 18, 2023
The 27th Ciência Viva no Verão programme will bring two activities in which the endemic snails of Santa Maria island will be the theme to raise awareness among the population about “Nature's Signs” in the climate emergency.
“At Snail's Pace” and “Planting Biodiversity Refuges” are activities promoted by Expolab – Centro de Ciência Viva, in partnership with the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, through the LIFE SNAILS project. Accompanied by the expert Frias Martins, participants will explore the trails of Pico Alto in search of Santa Maria's rich malacological fauna, and they will plant various species of native flora with the specific goal of reducing the fragmentation of the island's natural habitat and reversing the changes caused by human action on the planet.
Registrations for the activities can be made through the following links, where you can find more information.
