LIFE SNAILS project: New structures promote the reproduction of native plants in controlled environments

LIFE SNAILS project: New structures promote the reproduction of native plants in controlled environments

Aug. 1, 2023

Provided for in action C.1 and as part of its commitment as associated beneficiary, the Regional Directorate of Forestry Resources (DRRF) carried out the construction of a greenhouse with an area of 80 square metres and a shade house with 150 square metres in the Recreational Forest Reserve of Valverde Eng. Emiliano. These infrastructures were built to produce native plants, adapted to the specific needs of the LIFE SNAILS project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change.

The two structures will allow the controlled and protected cultivation of the plants, reinforcing the capacity of seed germination and initial adaptation of the seedlings to local weather conditions. With this equipment it will also be possible to harness rainwater for use in its own irrigation system.
