LIFE IP AZORES NATURA calls for compliance with the code of conduct for the Azorean trails
July 14, 2023
With the onset of summer, outdoor activities are increasingly desirable, and many of us, as well as the tourists who visit us, benefit of some activities on the existing network of trails in our Region, thus increasing the load they can support during this season.
As is common knowledge, in the Azores, there are areas with habitats and species unique in the world that are sometimes vulnerable, and some practices can damage these areas, as has been observed by technicians and park rangers from the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change and the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, putting at risk all the conservation work that has been carried out by these entities.
In 2021, and as part of Action C14.1 “Mitigating the impacts of tourism in areas of the Natura 2000 network”, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project updated the code of conduct for the Azorean trails, which contains some rules and good practices for those who use the archipelago's regional trail network.
In this way, we appeal to all users of this network to comply with the codes of conduct, available through this link: https://parquesnaturais.azores.gov.pt/en/trilhos/codigoconduta.
