LIFE IP AZORES NATURA Project provides training course on bird ringing for Nature Watchers teams
June 21, 2023
Between May and June this year, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, in collaboration with the Regional Secretariat for Environment and Climate Change, the Regional Directorate for Maritime Policies, the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests and the marine research group OKEANOS, is promoting a training course on the identification, ringing and study of wild birds, directed to Nature Watchers and technicians from the Regional Public Administration.
This training has the objective of providing skills on bird identification, ringing and marking, as fundamental tools for bird conservation. It is intended that trainees acquire practical knowledge in the handling of birds, learn how to correctly identify them, determine their age, weight and gender, as well as collect biometrics.
This program, which includes 28 hours of theory and practice, is carried out on the islands of Faial, Pico and Graciosa and is part of the action C2.1 (Internal Training).
