LIFE IP AZORES NATURA celebrates Children's Day

June 19, 2023

Children's Day, commemorated in Portugal on 1 June, was created by the United Nations, with the purpose of raising awareness about their rights, namely the right to love and understanding, adequate food, medical care, free education, protection against all forms of exploitation, as well as the right to growing up in a climate of peace and brotherhood, regardless of race, colour, religion, social origin, or nationality.

This year the project LIFE IP AZORES NATURA, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, celebrated this date by participating in an event organized by the Municipality of Horta, which brought together more than 950 kindergarten and primary school children from several of the island's schools. During this event, the children had the opportunity to play the most recent card game about invasive species, "Dobble Invasoras", created by LIFE IP AZORES NATURA, which is available in the Educational Offer of this Regional Secretariat, and addresses, in a fun way, the problem of invasive species in the Azores.
