LIFE IP AZORES NATURA participates in the Final Conference of LIFE VIDALIA

May 24, 2023

At the end of April, took place the Final Conference of LIFE VIDALIA, a project that will end in June this year. This conference took place on the island of Faial with an in-person and online component.

The LIFE VIDALIA project aims to improve the conservation status of two endemic species of the Azores, the Azorean Bellflower (Azorina vidalii) and the Azorean Lotus (Lotus azoricus) on the islands of Faial, Pico and São Jorge.

During this event, LIFE IP AZORES NATURA was invited to present the progress of the project so far, as well as what will happen to the work started by LIFE VIDALIA on these three islands of the Azores archipelago, which will now be carried out by LIFE IP AZORES NATURA.

All these projects were designed in an integrated way, so internal resources are ensured, such as the maintenance of the teams, as well as all equipment and infrastructure acquired, which will help ensure the continuity of this work to preserve these two protected and priority species for conservation.

Both projects are coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change which, in addition to these, coordinates three other projects dedicated to nature conservation and the fight against climate change.
