LIFE BEETLES receives fourth project progress monitoring visit

The LIFE BEETLES project team met, on the island of Pico, with the supervisor of the agency NEEMO – Monitoring LIFE Projects and Communicating about the Programme, for the fourth monitoring visit of the project. Representatives from the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, as coordinating beneficiary, from the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Change, as associated beneficiary, from the University of the Azores, as the head of the scientific monitoring team for target species and the Director of the Pico Environment and Climate Change Service were present.

This visit allowed an evaluation of the current situation and the progress of LIFE BEETLES, having also discussed the needs and constraints of the project.

A visit was also made to the intervention areas where work is currently underway to control invasive flora and improve the habitat of the target species Ground Beetle (Pseudanchomenus aptinoides) and habitat restoration in the old pasture on the banks of Caiado Lagoon.
