LIFE BEETLES - Intervention Areas

The second intervention area of Flores Island, FLO2, is located in the Natural Reserve of Caldeira Funda and Rasa. The area is part of the Special Conservation Zone (ZEC) Central-Morro Alto, within the scope of the Natura 2000 Network, a geosite of the Azores Geopark - UNESCO World Geopark and a Ramsar Site under the Ramsar Convention. Lagoa Rasa is a highly important wooded peat bog zone and one of the areas defined as a potential habitat for Tarphius floresensis, so it is intended to improve the conditions of the area in relation to its vegetation cover, removing IAS and planting endemic species.
