LIFE VIDALIA promotes training, dissemination and replication action to the field teams of the islands of the triangle
March 31, 2023
The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change promoted on 17 February, through the LIFE VIDALIA project, a training action of operational nature directed to the field teams of the Environment and Climate Change Services of the three islands of intervention of the project: Faial, Pico and São Jorge.
The action included capacity-building components, dissemination and replication of data and results of the work carried out under LIFE VIDALIA, specifically the presentation of the results of the project's conservation actions, the demonstration of propagation methods used in the project's target species, a visit to the Azores Seed Bank, the Orchidarium and the Nursery of Rare Plants of the Botanic Garden, as well as a visit to the intervention areas of Caldeirão do Cabeço Verde and Morro de Castelo Branco.
This multidisciplinary training session enabled the sharing of experiences between the field teams present, where there are collaborators not only from LIFE VIDALIA but also from LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE BEETLES.
The training of the teams, the technical dissemination work and the promotion of the replication of methods and strategies are fundamental elements of the LIFE VIDALIA project, as they ensure the continuity of the work and, in the future, the application of methods already tested and the adaptation of solutions already developed, contributing to the improvement of the response capacity to the environmental problems faced by the Region.
As the end of the project approaches, on 30 June of this year, this training action also allows the transmission of information to the operational team of the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, which, after LIFE VIDALIA, will ensure the continuation of the work developed so far in the intervention areas of LIFE VIDALIA.
