Graciosa hosts session on “Azores on the Energy Route: Graciosa, the model island”

A session entitled “Azores on the Energy Route: Graciosa, a model island” took place on 25 January on Graciosa, where the challenges of integrating renewable energy sources in the Azores were made known, with emphasis on the successful case of Graciosa, the model island for the rest of the Archipelago in this area.

These information and training sessions on energy entitled “Azores on the Energy Route” will happen on all the islands of the Region and are aimed at citizens, schools, public administration and businesses, in order to involve Azoreans, raising their awareness about sustainability through energy, an important step towards promoting a society based on a low-carbon economy. It is an initiative of the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures through the Regional Directorate for Energy, promoted in collaboration with ADENE – Agência para a Energia.

These training and awareness actions are also part of the European project LIFE IP CLIMAZ, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, which aims to assist the Region in pursuing its objectives in terms of efficiency, savings and mitigation of the effects of climate change.
