LIFE IP CLIMAZ promotes the VI General Project Management Meeting on São Miguel Island

The LIFE IP CLIMAZ project promoted the 6th General Project Management Meeting, at the Furnas Monitoring and Investigation Centre in São Miguel, on the 29th of September.

The event was attended by the beneficiary’s management teams associated with the project - Regional Directorate for Territorial Planning and Water Resources, Regional Directorate for Maritime Policies, Regional Directorate for Energy, Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, Vila Franca do Campo City Council, Horta City Council, Electricity of the Azores and Cooperativa União Agrícola (Agricultural Association), also its coordinating beneficiary, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change.

At this meeting, the project presented the status of its already developed actions, as well as the ones to be developed until the end of 2022 and the beginning of next year.

Of the works already carried out, we highlight the opening of applications for the acquisition of water heaters that will be distributed to families on the island of Graciosa, by the Regional Directorate for Energy, which runs until October 31, the start of the safety and feasibility study of the electrical system, coordinated by the company Eletricidade dos Açores and also the installation of 12 public drinking fountains near Vila Franca do Campo schools and beaches, carried out by this Municipality. We also should mention the hiring of human resources, namely operational assistants and graduate technicians, by the Regional Directorate for Forestry Resources and Cooperativa União Agrícola.

We would like to remind you of the other previously disclosed planned actions: the acquisition and installation of around 40 electric charging points by the Regional Directorate of Energy with the collaboration of the company Eletricidade dos Açores, the acquisition and installation of agrometeorological stations by the Cooperativa União Agrícola in partnership with the Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning and Water Resources, as well as the acquisition of an electric minibus by Horta City Council.
