National Water Day

Water is essential to the life of all living beings. This natural resource allows the conservation of biodiversity, regulates the temperature of our planet and maintains the biological, geological, and chemical cycles essential for survival on Earth.

In the Azores, water resources are highly valued due to their quality. According to the 2022 Annual Report on Quality Control of Water for Human Consumption, published by the Entity for the Regulation of Water and Waste Services of the Azores (ERSARA), tap water in the Region maintains the highest quality standards.

The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change intends to raise awareness throughout the community about the efficient use of tap water.

Adopt sustainable choices and a greener lifestyle to preserve this precious commodity - water.
