European Car Free Day

On this European Car Free Day, the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project encourages the entire Azorean population to move more sustainably, replacing the car with cycling or walking. Using alternative means of transport to cars (powered by fossil fuels) promotes the protection of natural resources and a better quality of life.

This project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change, intends to contribute to this initiative through the purchase of several electric vehicles, namely a 26-tonne truck, nine pick-ups with four-wheel drive and two light passenger vehicles, as well as a shared urban mobility pilot platform (car-share) for services of the Regional Government of the Azores.
