LIFE IP CLIMAZ supports Azorean municipalities in the implementation of actions to combat climate change
March 30, 2022
In a partnership between the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change and the Municipality of Vila Franca do Campo, drinking fountains were installed in several schools in the municipality, acquired through the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project.
This initiative was developed as part of the celebration of World Water Day, a date that aims to raise awareness of the need to avoid water waste, remembering that this is a limited resource and essential for the survival of life on the planet.
These public equipments will soon be made available on beaches and municipal gardens, with the aim of raising awareness among the community about the consumption of public water, also reducing the production of waste related to the consumption of bottled water.
LIFE IP CLIMAZ already has a series of measures planned, which will allow the Municipality of Vila Franca do Campo to carry out other actions that will ensure the capture and supply of water to the population, with an additional reservoir and interventions on the ground to protect 3 springs.
Another step by the Regional Government of the Azores towards an archipelago that aims to be an example in terms of environmental sustainability.
