LIFE IP CLIMAZ presents new measures to implement

The Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change promoted the fourth general meeting of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, on 25 January, being present the teams of the associated beneficiaries (Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning and Water Resources, Regional Directorate for Sea Affairs, Regional Directorate for Energy, Regional Directorate for Forest Resources, Horta City Council, Vila Franca do Campo City Council, Eletricidade dos Açores and Cooperativa União Agrícola).

At this meeting, the status of the various project's actions to be developed during the current year was presented, namely the acquisition of around 1,500 water heaters to distribute to families on Graciosa island, as well as the acquisition, by the Regional Directorate of Energy, of two electric vehicles for the public administration services.

It is also noteworthy the hiring of a team of 18 operatives to clean and clear streams by the Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning and Water Resources, and a safety and feasibility study of the electricity system to be carried out by the company Eletricidade dos Açores.

In addition, we recall the other planned actions already previously disclosed: the acquisition and installation of about 40 electric charging points by the Regional Directorate for Energy with the collaboration of the company Eletricidade dos Açores; the improvement of nursery infrastructures that will produce the plantation for replanting in the project's intervention areas, an investment by the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources; the installation of 12 public water fountains near the schools of Vila Franca do Campo by the local City Council; the purchase and installation of agrometeorological stations by the Agricultural Union Cooperative in partnership with the Regional Directorate for Spatial Planning and Water Resources; the purchase of an electric minibus by Horta City Council.
