National Park Rangers Day

On this day, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change pays tribute to the guardians of the protected areas of our Archipelago.
These professionals play a fundamental role in monitoring, preserving and conserving the natural heritage of the Azores, as well as in environmental education, in terms of raising the community's awareness.
They are the ones who are the link between the population and our Services on each island every day, alerting them to situations that need intervention, thus safeguarding the effective management and planning of the measures implemented by this Regional Secretariat.
It is also important to mention the program Azores Junior Park Ranger, which aims to encourage active and participating environmental citizenship, motivating young people to change attitudes and adopt environmentally sustainable habits and behaviours, through various actions developed on all islands and throughout the year.
