Volunteering for nature LIFE SNAILS

Volunteering for nature LIFE SNAILS

July 17, 2026

The LIFE SNAILS project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, welcomed ten students and three teachers from Domingos Rebelo Secondary School and the Oporto British School. The students participated in a volunteer activity focused on collecting and distributing Azorean Pericallis (Pericallis malvifolia) seeds, an important endemic plant in the ecosystems where we work.

This initiative was part of an international programme for personal and social development aimed at young people aged 14–24. The programme challenges participants to grow into active, engaged citizens capable of contributing positively to their communities and the world.

We want to express our gratitude to all participants for their dedication and enthusiasm, and emphasise the importance of youth involvement in building a society that is more aware of and committed to biodiversity conservation.
