European Day of Nature Parks marked with a coastal clean-up
June 26, 2026
On 27 May, the São Jorge Island Nature Park marked the European Day of Nature Parks by joining forces with the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project to carry out a coastal clean-up.
To this end, staff from the São Jorge Environment and Climate Action Service travelled to the project’s intervention areas in Fajã dos Cubres, where they carried out a coastal clean-up.
During the initiative, around 173 kg of waste was collected – mainly plastics, ropes and textiles – which was subsequently sent to the São Jorge Waste Processing Centre.
This initiative helped raise participants’ awareness of the project’s objectives whilst also promoting cooperation and strengthening team spirit amongst staff from the São Jorge Environment and Climate Action Service.
