LIFE IP CLIMAZ Project Promotes Training in LiDAR Surface Production and Analysis in São Miguel
May 18, 2026
Within the framework of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Action promoted the training course “Course on the Production and Analysis of LiDAR Surfaces (Light Detection and Ranging)”, which took place on the island of São Miguel between March 27 and April 2.
This initiative brought together 35 trainees from various fields, including technicians from Civil Protection, Forestry Services, Maritime Policies, Environment, and the Regional Laboratory of Civil Engineering.
The main objective of the training was to equip participants with skills in the processing and analysis of LiDAR and photogrammetry data, providing them with essential competencies to improve the response and planning capacity of Civil Protection, support land-use planning and sustainable landscape management, and strengthen the production of high-precision geospatial information.
The development of these skills significantly contributes to enhancing natural risk prevention, environmental management, and the provision of essential technical information for decision-making and territorial planning.
