O trabalho continua após término do LIFE BEETLES!

Although the LIFE BEETLES project has come to an end, the commitment to nature conservation remains strong. Through the teams of the Island Environment and Climate Action Services, the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Change continues to take action to preserve species and their habitats in the project’s intervention areas, ensuring the continuity of the results achieved.

In January, as part of the Post-LIFE BEETLES programme, an action was carried out to reinforce plantations in Lagoa do Caiado, aiming to improve the habitat favourable to the target species. In this initiative, 200 specimens of the Short Leafed Juniper (Juniperus brevifolia) and Azorean Heather (Erica azorica) were planted, contributing to the recovery and ecological enhancement of this important high-altitude area.
