Community involvement is key to the success of the LIFE SNAILS project.
Jan. 29, 2026
Coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, community involvement in the LIFE SNAILS project is producing tangible results in nature conservation. Following interventions focused on the collection and dissemination of seeds, carried out in conjunction with the community and partner entities, the first Pericallis malvifolia seedlings appeared in the interior of the Pico Alto area on the island of Santa Maria.
The development of these actions directly contributes to enriching local biodiversity and improving the habitat structure of the endemic snail species that are the project’s main focus.
