LIFE IP CLIMAZ participates in a round table on Carbon Farming
Jan. 26, 2026
Last October, the event ‘Initiatives for Sustainable Agricultural Production’, promoted by Terra Premium, took place in the auditorium of NONAGON - São Miguel Science and Technology Park.
As part of the event, a round table dedicated to the topic of Carbon Farming was held, with the participation of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project manager, Pedro Machado. The initiative brought together various stakeholders from the agricultural sector, including experts, technicians, and farmers, and created a space for collaborative and participatory reflection on the challenges and opportunities for the future of agricultural production in the Region.
During the panel, the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project manager emphasised that Carbon Farming integrates a set of agricultural and soil management practices that are fundamental to achieving carbon neutrality. Carbon mitigation is achieved by sequestering carbon dioxide (CO2) in soil and biomass through regenerative agricultural practices. At the same time, these practices contribute to climate change adaptation and mitigation by improving soil water retention capacity, fertility, and organic matter content, thereby reducing the need for fertilisers.
