LIFE IP AZORES NATURA receives international students of the Sustainable Summer School, at Lagoa do Fogo
Dec. 19, 2025
The Sustainability Summer School in the Azores, coordinated by the European University College Association (EucA), returned to the island of São Miguel for another edition dedicated to knowledge sharing and practical involvement in environmental issues.
Following the success of the initiative the previous year, the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project and the São Miguel Environment and Climate Action Service collaborated again, providing a new group of international students with the opportunity to get to know the natural heritage of the Azores up close.
One of the most remarkable activities was, once again, the volunteer session at Lagoa do Fogo, where 17 university students, accompanied by two EucA managers, participated in an action to remove invasive alien species. The work allowed the removal of approximately 3m³ of invasive alien species, contributing to the conservation of one of the most emblematic ecosystems on the island of São Miguel.
This action aimed to showcase the conservation work developed within the LIFE IP AZORES NATURA project, fitting into the following actions:
E2 – Dissemination, transfer and replication of project actions;
E5 – Public involvement and volunteer programme.
We thank all participants for their commitment and dedication to the nature of the Azores!
