Nov. 26, 2025
The Regional Directorate for Environment and Climate Action (DRAAC), as an associated beneficiary of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, attended WAVES – Workshop on Advanced Vehicles for Exploration of the Seas, held in Ponta Delgada on October 14. This event, promoted by the University of the Azores in partnership with INESC-TEC of the University of Porto, was attended by several research centres, including CIBIO-Azores, IS2E \ LIACC, and IVAR.
During the workshop, DRAAC presented the main actions planned under the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, highlighting its strategic role in adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change. The presentation emphasised the importance of monitoring geomorphological instability risks, implementing warning systems in priority areas, and strengthening the climate observation network by installing new weather stations.
This third edition of WAVES aimed to bring the scientific, institutional, and business communities of the Azores closer to the opportunities provided by emerging technologies, focusing on the theme “Use of technology in the prediction and mitigation of marine environmental risks.”
