Online seminar Strategic LIFE Projects – a tool for implementing environmental policies

The integrated projects LIFE IP AZORES NATURA and LIFE IP CLIMAZ, coordinated by the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, were present at the online seminar promoted by LIFE CAP PT II, dedicated to the theme: ‘LIFE Strategic Projects – a tool for implementing environmental policies’.

This participation was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the work carried out by the only integrated LIFE projects currently underway in Portugal, both based in the Autonomous Region of the Azores.

During the seminar, the essential role of SNaP (Strategic Nature Projects) and SIP (Strategic Nature and Integrated Projects – Environment and Climate) in the implementation of public policies was highlighted, contributing directly to the implementation of the following regulations and plans:

- Priority Action Framework (PAF) for the Natura 2000 Network

- European Regulation on Invasive Alien Species

- Nature Restoration Regulation

- Regional Programme for Climate Change (PRAC)

The presentations by the project managers also served as inspiration for future applicants for integrated projects, highlighting the thematic and strategic scope of these instruments and their effective contribution to the implementation of a wide range of public policies.
